Sorry nope, I hardly ever go in there. Enjoyed a couple of nice drinks in the garden at the back though.

Missed this question, sorry. I've read a fair bit but can never recall the name of a movie or a book. I've read a couple of old books, one written about the sherpas from their perspective, which was great, because in the mid-century it was almost like they were invisible and took no kudos, but were the ones that meant the white men could actually make it. I enjoyed that book.

I'll check out those books and if I've not read them, I'll get onto them. Thanks.

The Climb is a far more accurate version of what happened in 1996 and remember Anatoly Boukreev did not lose one of his clients, he saved all of them.
Don't forget, he completed the rescues singlehandedly, AFTER climbing to the summit without supplemental oxygen.
Into Thin Air is just an embellished airport novel written by Jon Krakauer, who was more interested in making a name for himself.

I am very curious as to how you can make that assertion?

'The Summit' is screening on ABC2 (Australia) at 8:30pm tonight.

I highly recommend it. In my opinion a much better production than the recent Everest movie.

Epic of Everest is also cool. It's the vision from the 1924 Mallory/Irvine expedition http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0219671/

    Thread grave dig.

I finally watched this. It was an enjoyable movie, but I felt it lacked some of the grit of the struggles that the climbers face (this may have been watching it SD on an old TV...)

After repeatedly saying "f... that, I would never do that", I suddenly said to my wife, "Hang on, we like mountain climbing. Remember when we climbed Mt Fuji? I enjoyed that."

My wife snorted.. "You didn't climb Mt Fuji, you just looked at it from the spa".

Anyway. I might check out the others.

If you've not seen it, Touching the Void is an amazing movie.

Is that where he cut his arm off? If so, was good.
