We need an engineer to draw up a simple plan for removing a wall in a single level PPOR , only around 4 m long .

First person we talked to changes $220 / Hr ( $ 440 ) , so 2 hrs ( including travel ) for the first visit to say hello and check out job . Is that standard rate ?

He's half the cost of my solicitor.

You might try [email protected] over at Beecroft.

I had a whole wall remove (approx 5m), metal beam up in the ceiling (so ceiling itself it flat - no drop beams) and nib wall of 100mm - $10k. Would have been $3k less if i went for a drop beam option and 600mm nib wall. This was all on a framed roof, so structural engineer was required.

Totally worth the extra $3k to put the beam in the ceiling - looks so much bigger as a result.

Site visit by the builder was free, but the engineer cost $350.

    PM me for the details.

That's pretty high charge out rate for something simple. This would be something that gets palmed off to a junior and a quick glance by a senior to check over.

Looks good! DO you have any pics of what they did in the roof cavity?
