I can finish the sentence - I think that's what she wants. o_O
    Employees stay when they are:
supported in doing their best and appreciated for it,
    not criticised,
respected and not treated in a condescending manner,
treated fairly esp with pay (ie prompt, correct),
clear that their manager (s) is not a queen bee or any other brand of bully /game player.
Also, they stay when they like the work - regardless of everything else. Esp if it incorporates what they studied/ true skills.

Can't see it, but just by the sentence it say they'd stay when there's not enough reason that push them to not stay and/or there is not enough reason to pull them to another option.

I.e. They can be paid well and still move out if other place paid better ;) that's oversimplifying of course. People stay as long as their personal goal and growth rate can be catered by working with the current company.

People leave for two reasons. They don't feel appreciated or they don't get along with their boss.

Obviously there are an unlimited number of reasons most you can't control but these are the ones you can control which have the biggest impact.

Well personally I would hate to be an employee and work for anyone long term/forever. As an employee there is only so far you can go, grow and earn doe. As your own boss, the opportunities are endless.

The reasons employees stay in their jobs I think depends on their personal circumstances.
I think some people are made to work for themselves and no matter what the job is or how amazing...no job could ever change that

I've been with the same govt employer for 15 years and can't imagine leaving.

I'm paid well for what I do, have a level of autonomy, I feel valued and receive recognition for quality work. I have opportunity for promotion or to learn new skills. I'm surrounded by hard working intelligent people who are good at their jobs. Most of all, my work is interesting and makes a difference to people.

I was in the same role for about 8 years which I absolutely loved, only reason I left that was due to a control freak co-worker (not my boss).

Something which is important to many.

People like to work in a workplace where they get along with people, probably do things together, enjoy the social interactions with each other.

You can have the best work place but the people your stuck there with will determine how long!
People play a huge part. Don't hire oxygen theives and you're off to a good start... Unfortunately some management like those types to make themselves look better :p

Employees stay when they are... still building their IP portfolio, and leave shortly thereafter.

    +1

Good pay, challenging work, making a difference to the community etc are all nice to have in a job, but if you don't like the people you work with, you won't want to go to work every day...
