    This question's based on a concept I was introduced to on Somersoft many moons ago. The "Cashflow Quadrant".

    I've expanded a little to satiate my curiosity.

    So what best describes you; which of these is your main source of income?

    You can select multiple options but please elaborate if you wish e.g. if you're content where you are, if/when you transitioned from one to another etc.

    Well

    To the ATO I am an employee as I get PAYG from the company I am director of. To lenders I am self employed and a business owner. And I invest. So I guess all?

    How about you Steve?

    I would have to say business has been the best and most consistent income/cashflow generator for us over the past 10 years.
    However, now that the property portfolio is built up, an average years CG will generate more equity than our earned income.
    No problem though, all this pent up equity will create quite a nice passive cashflow soon enough.

    I'd be interested to know some stats on the 33% of people who say their mains source of income is from investing.
    Is that net income you're counting as?
    We'd have to be playing at Nathan Birch levels to come close to making property the main income source, and that's not happening any time soon.

    When I go on tv game shows, I describe myself as the CEO of a multi-National Company.:cool:

    But seriously;

    I own a business
    I therefore am self-employed, I guess
    I pay myself a wage from that business
    I also invest in r/e

    I am all of those options except multi-business, but at this stage predominantly an employee.
