Once you see the state of most backyards in the area, you will understand why nobody wants one

That's tiny, no backyard, squished in right next door. May as well live in a unit.
What I don't understand is people living right out of town in a new development - and then all squished together.

Unfortunately that's the planning policy for Adelaide now. In 2000 the average block size in metropolitan Adelaide was 600sqm, it is now 375sqm and declining.

Apartment/unit living isn't that popular in SA, so smaller 3 bedroom homes are filling that gap.

Well good on you blokes for getting there and finding the larger blocks, looks like it will be a good idea in the future.

I messaged Peter Migali and still haven't heard back, so I guess I'll start looking for other properties. Might fly down in a couple of weeks.
We've got our anniversary coming up, so might be a good opportunity to have a couple of days away and go to Cirque du Soleil.

Fancy place for a holiday ;) I actually liked it last time I was there. Too many churches though.

    Oh thank god.
Is Glenelg fancy? I remember a marina or something.

Adelaide is nice and quiet when coming from Sydney and we probably won't spend the night in Elizabeth. ;)
Plus my partner has been wanting to see Cirque du Soleil for a while now, so it being a partially deductible trip (will be looking at my existing IPs) will make it worthwhile.

Glenelg is nice enough, but not super fancy.

The property is one I built myself about 5 years ago after I moved to Adelaide. It was my first home so I got a little carried away when I built and over capitalised and have only just seen bank valuations meet what I paid to build. Just to add to the discussion on block size this particular house is situated on 400sqm block.

Welcome to Adelaide... the highest concentration of useless real estate agents per capita in Australia.

What name did you post as on SS? Do you have properties in the area or any info to share? :)

I'm one of them SS members that's been hiding in the dark, not posting much (PHP from SS). No props in SA, yet! But have been watching the SS SA thread very closely learning from you guys. Thanks for the information shared DT. Looking forward for a lot more info.. :D

It'd be declining in all states, wouldn't it? More focus on more homes being built.

    Yep. Correct.

SA seems to have council based rules rather than state ones (like WA does with r codes), and some allow anything and some allow nothing. This limits the land a little and allows for more steady gradual CG curve
