Yet another instance of arson in Elizabeth North in yet another unoccupied duplex. This is the third night in a row there's been arson on empty properties in Elizabeth according to Nine; obviously the arsonist out there is pretty active right now.

Space jobs? More likely it'll be lots of new Centrelink recipients.

Thanks, couldn't find it earlier. Disappointing news about the submarines but then I guess there's only so much government pork to go round.

Nup. You can bet there'll be four townhouses pop up on each of those burnt down duplex sites.

Excellent, driving gentrification of the area and increasing average rent prices! :D

LOL, yeah any moment now Elizabeth is going to be gentrified; increasing arson is always a sign that the upper crust of society are about to move in.

Elizabeth City Centre is about to get up-market shops like Chadstone VIC (Prada, Fendi, Givenchy) because the average incomes in the area are skyrocketing to the moon with all the residents taking up highly-skilled high pay space jobs. A new $30,000 p/a private grammar school is opening to cater for all the new money moving in there (again - space jobs)... you won't recognise the place soon, it'll make Mosman or Toorak look like dumps.

Why not put all your money into redeveloping your Elizabeth properties into very high-end executive properties with all the features? You won't lose.

Although we are about to get a 205 room luxury hotel:

Ramada by Wyndham Playford hotel to open in Adelaide

"Playford is one of the fastest growing areas in South Australia and is tipped to become the CBD of Adelaide’s north, with the population expected to expand from 96,000 to 135,000 by 2036. The hotel’s launch will coincide with a significant expansion of Playford’s infrastructure"

Yeah, like I said. Prada, Fendi, Givenchy.

That's why Jimmy Barnes dedicated a single off his new album (Criminal Record) to the future prosperity of his former home suburb. It's called Shutting down our town:

Oh, they're shutting down our town
    They're cutting down our town
No more production line blue collar can be found
They'll tear it to the ground
    They're shutting down our town
Oh, they're shutting down our town

Kinda says it all really doesn't it.

Like the immanent gentrification of Port Adelaide, they promise a lot but they never deliver. All that's happened is the release of more land into an already depressed market for more townhouses and apartments (average capital growth -7%).

We just don't have the brand new private sector investment in industries and jobs here; I can't think of a single project large project in Adelaide that isn't government underwritten or financed - it's a real worry and bides badly for the future. We urgently need action from state and federal levels to get genuine private sector investment into long term industries, not just carpet-baggers who are using up government subsidies and then leaving.
