can any provide some advise please...
How does the electricity side of things work?
Should I be getting an electricity reading done prior to taking over the new property? If so, who do I contact as I don’t know who the electricity provider is.
Or do I just sign up with my preferred electricity provider and they take care of it?

Generally speaking a electricity meter is linked to a energy provider. (Think of it like a phone number). It is portable. The buyer can choose who their energry provider is and arranges connection. The former provider reads the meter and its then transfererd over to a new provider or account if you happen to choose the same provider.

You must arrange connection and it can take a few days - AGL offer a next day poromise I believe. If you dont arrrange connection the lighyts anmd power wont work. Unless the former occupant didnt end their bill. - Which they would be foolish to miss. If they did miss it your provider will sort it.

Just contact your preferred supplier and arrange connection.
They will be happy to assist.

    Shop around !!

Energy Made Easy is an INDEPENDENT price comparison site from the Commonwealth Govt. Its a legal requirement of all energy providers to list all offers
