Penny Wong claiming the electorate has rejected the LNP agenda. Won't concede the electorate has rejected Labor's agenda. Someone needs to send her a memo that Labor lost this election.

So I guess the memo will have to wait.

Might be a different memo as Cory Bernardi and Tony Abbott are most likely to deliver a memo of their own.:)

The sycophants are cheering on Turbull. Claiming they will form government but to soon to claim a win. Likely no result until Tuesday. He should make nice with Nick between now then just in case ;)

Labor can't form government. They have lost the election. That is clear. LNP will form government as a majority or minority government. Penny Wong would not even concede that if LNP form a majority government that they won the election.

My real point though is that you can't sit there and claim the electorate has rejected the LNP agenda when your party just copped the second worst primary vote in history. That is what the electorate rejecting your agenda looks like Penny.

Shorten is already at Nick's door step.
It will not be Nick, but the coalition's right who have MT where they want him.
Even if he gets in, there is the small issue of plebiscite...

Shorty and Nick dont have enough seats to form minority government

Well, it is going to be difficult for him if he forms government. What are the betting odds MT will be PM by years end?

    Just out:

"I can report that based on the advice I have from the party officials, we can have every confidence that we will form a Coalition majority Government in the next Parliament,”. Malcom Turnbull.

Won't know for certain about the majority gov until Wednesday but it's looking good.

Could be true, wouldn't pay too much attention to Malcom's statement but, sounds like made up dribble.

Disappointing end result, a strong swing to Labor however.
The movement against Negative Gearing has gained a lot of strength, Turnbull should take notice, any new government should reform it, the mandate is there. Small parties and independents used to form a government should insist on this.

I prefer he stayed, Australia needs the stability.

Majority of people love him, just some people bought into the Medicare scam too easily.

It's clear he did not win votes. Stability for now, won't be for long.

People have noted that Turnbull's speech was more for the benefit of his back benchers. He knows he is trouble. The right wing will be emboldened now and demand more.

If Abbot was still in power Bill Shorten would have won.

Can someone tell me why there is no vote counting today or Monday and why there was no sausage sizzle at my local school?

It was the worst of the proposed Super Changes (especially the retrospective $500K limit) that resulted in the loss of some long term Liberal Party supporters. Peta Credlin also said this was the case. And she would know what had been going on behind the scenes.
Expect a party room revolt over the Super stuff now. Many Liberal Party members were against the changes but kept quiet during the campaign. Some have already come out since last night speaking out against them. Turnbull will have minimal authority over the party going forward. The knives are out.

For Turnbull and Morrison unfortunately this is a mess of their own making.

And I say this as a long term conservative supporter. Also I had no problem with reducing the benefits of Super for the wealthy but they went too far without any warning of this. It had them on the back foot right from the start and they never recovered.

What a mess they have now created.
