I don't pay bills online, bills are a menial task. So is washing the car or windows, cleaning, ironing, mowing the lawn (neighbour's lawns excepted ;) ), picking up the take away, driving when you can Uber etc.

I bought a new vacuum cleaner yesterday - and, like everything nowadays, had to put the bits together via following the poorly drawn cartoons. Buggered if I could work out how to put the damn bag in and had to call a friend who had the same model for advice.

And don't mutter at me about bagged vacuum cleaners. As per the advice vehemently given on SS to "buy a Dyson" - I did - worst piece of vacuuming rubbish I ever spent $700 on. They may have been good once upon a time but even a friend, who's a professional cleaner, won't touch them nowadays and I was glad when it died after a mere 5 years. Expensive piece of non-suctioning crap

Ive got a vac with one of those reusable cloth bags. Just empty and then whack it a few times on the fence or tree etc to clean it. Works great. $99 at Bunnings.

Yep - that's what my professional cleaner friend told me to get. A Ryobi $99 wet/dry vac from Bunnings ... although they were out of stock so went the $129 super sucky version.

Granted, they aren't as ergonomically comfortable to use - but for 40 minutes a week I'm sure I'll live, and might get it down to 20 minutes as the damn thing actually sucks up the dust/dirt/doghair without having to run over the same spot 2-3 times

The thing about a vacuum cleaner is, that whether it works or not, it sucks.

    Two ways

    1. Google Home or
    2. ITTT app

    1. Create a routine in the Home app for the device/s. Set calendar (ie weekdays), time and have Google play music or spotify etc (subscription needed!) play what ever you specify (I cant recall if it must be a individual track in a playlist) .... or
    2. IfThisThenThat (ITTT) app and set the rules once it knows your devices....Still needs google play music (or spotify etc). ITTT can do some amazing stuff as a sequencer. It could intro the song for example with a beration telling them to get up. Mine swears like a parrot to some requests. You have to use phonetics to avoid it bleeping words) eg Marthafarking.... Mine groans about my wifes poor movie choices when she requests netflix.

The trigger will be an alarm.

That's the intention - children need to be woken with a 'random' alarm.

Lizzie, did you check that the nozzle/tube of your Dyson had any clogs? I had a complete clog in mine. (Wet floors in wet areas are to be avoided because wet paper sticks in the tubing!). Once the obstruction was cleared, my hand held Dyson started working perfectly again.

while we are on dyson bashing,
I got one of those dyson ball ones, seems to do a great job, not that I have much to compare to

but I tried one of the dyson fans, the one shaped like a oval donught,

couldnt believe how warm the air was on the lowest setting!

    and for something like $600!!!

No blockage just didn't like my flooring choice of timber and sisal. Then started whining like a jet engine for 6 months (no wonder I'm deaf) before finally cacking a spat on the weekend

Let's just call it a "performance mod". :D:D

Now to figure out how to do the HEPA filtering at the post-motor filter.
