    Been there many times myself.

Make sure you get them to replace all the drives, A NAS works better if the drives are from the same batch (unless you are setting it up in JBOD config) :).

As you have had a very busy day and seem to have a sense of humour I wont suggest you look up the word 'pontificate' ... :D

If at first you don't succeed fail, fail again.

It to it again setting up this NAS though I know wonder if it was the box and not the disks which crapped it.

Wonder if I can work out how to use it for backing tracks. A large part of the day delving into the mysterious and arcane world of tech stuff. But as per the title of this thread..........

Interesting you bring that up - we had a SAN at work full blown RAID 5 configs yadda yadda including redundant RAID controller. When one of the controllers failed, it auto cut over to the redundant (good) but it didn't give any warning!! (bad). Later the second controller failed and.... SAN down....

One of the craziest tracks I've ever driven.... turn 4 has a fence so close to it, it isn't funny (with a lake on the other side of it), the blind crest on the back straight makes you feel like you are heading onto Dandenong Rd and cross traffic..... real horse power track (pretty much stop start - a couple of huge straights with a few 90 degree corners thrown in) not suited to my little 3 series Bimmer.....

Back to the original story though - I never knew how long RAIDS can take to recover when all of the sets get damaged due to a faulty controller!!!

The worst part was dodging the horses on the track.

    Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

    W(h)ine is required.

Which misbegotten, dastardly, cretinous four-eyed son of a camel driver designed these things I don't know but they should be covered in honey and stretched over a bull ants nest.

The difference between "//" and "\\" is annoying but I finally worked it out. Score one for the elderly.

It could well be true the elderly (Hi there my people!) are not tech savvy.

Yesterday I couldn't work out why I wasn't getting any sound through the amp. Seems active pickups require a battery in order to work. Ooohh, I see.

And why is it items such as a NAS have inane Device user names like "admin" and requires us oldies to scratch around trying to work out how to change it along with the access password.

Dang technology. Now in my day....

... you had to make decisions regarding valves for your amp :D Most kids these days think a valve is something that goes in a tap :p

I just got a set of drums. Rather perversely, I now wish I had an electronic kit.... and so does my neighbours.... (I guess that's why I have electronic keys and not a piano...)

Done - I think. 4-bay with Bay 4 as the spare.

Now to frig around with the learning curve because nothing is as clear as mud as an installation manual.
