Spot on mate. Which group of pollies do you think are the smart ones here ?
Just to expand on that comment Fargo - there is a giant gulf in my view about new foreign investment being used to kickstart rural development projects (irrigation/feedlots/meatworks etc) versus new foreign purchase of farmland already developed to highest and best use. One can truly boost our economy whilst the other serves mainly as a great payday to former owners, but amounts to basically selling off the family silver.
It’s definitely true the new owners will spend on opex but someone was always going to do that anyway in the main, so the pie doesn’t grow so much from this. The capex on new projects however is worth a heap more to us as a nation. An important distinction in my view.

Pakistan and Bangladesh are filling the void left by India, just got the latest bids. chickpeas $920, and $460 for Lentils delivered Melbourne, meaning chickpeas can still give a very high gross margin.

Now days that some-one will be foreign, because of restrictions on borrowings for large Australian Fund managers ,such as low LVRs and high interest rates compared to 2% some foreigners pay. And Australian impatience, and demand for instant high yeilds
