Our stormwater currently goes into an underground sinkwell - old building. We think.

We had accepted that we could use a charged system to get in to the curb - council is fine with this.

However we have a rear neighbour - who currently gets all our surface and underground run off (1.5 m fall over 25 m approx). There is a water authority easement that straddles our boundary though might not be relevant as it isn't our easement. But there would not be any additional encumbrance.

The rear neighbour has existing stormwater to the street parallel to our rear boundary. We have no direct down hill access to stormwater.

The question is whether it is worth pursuing the option of sharing (renewing) their stormwater. The advantage for them is that all run off is drained away. The advantage for us could be less complexity (no charged system). Still a lot of digging for either option so not sure it would be cheaper for us.

    Any thoughts welcome.

Can't hurt to contact the neighbor and see how open they are to suggestions. In the end it will come down to cost of works and any additional compensation that the neighbour may feel is appropriate.
I am helping a client at the moment in such a situation however a charged system is not an option for us.
