I am grinding paint off walls in a basement at the moment to apply an aquablok membrane as part of a long list of tasks for damp proofing.

I bought a dust extractor for the angle grinder today however the brushes are about 7mm too long which is creating problems and making the job a lot more difficult.

Does anyone know if you can buy spacers for angle grinders?

What are the walls made of? Brick?

Are you better getting the steel bristle ones and just knock it over? ? Or a scabbler and try and get some water on the wall?

Single skin brick with cement render. Getting the paint off to let the walls dry out. Scabbler is what I'm using isn't it? It's not doing a great job so I don't think the steel bristles would do any better?

Just looked at hiring a concete mower but not sure if this will be much better than the grinder.

Just looking for a second hand one, what are they actually called? Scabbler seems to bring up a gun shaped tool, hire place has them as concrete mowers and ebay came up with concrete planer but all were overseas.

Edit: Concrete grinder seems to be what we call them.

    Scabblers best to hire

Just get the grinder with a thick masonry disk and tape up the doors.

Just re-read the description, it is for removing paint but also roughens the surface which I don't want. I'll keep looking!

Edit: I got the bulk of one room done today with heat gun and scrapper, also tried wire brush on grinder but that just scorched the paint.
