Won't Dixon do a colour scheme for you?

They could but I figure I get the architect to do it expecting it be better quality. and also expecting the architect to provide some more input.

I think you need to be more clear on the brief to the architect though. A Dulux colour consultant could have helped you with the colours, don't need an architect for that.

And the Dulux consultant is only around $150 for an hour! They really helped me with my colour scheme.

In terms of making the design more attractive, I suggest talking to Dixon (assuming you are actually building with them and haven't just copied the plans).

They are bound to have had clients ask for these sorts of variations.

Dixon doesn't really "do" variations. You get what they give. That's why they're cheap. I assume that's why OP went architect route? Not that he's done very much to disguise its bones. Is it because the existing house is a Dixon and to add the duplex to the house to make it a triplex he's trying to keep it somewhat uniform?

Ah then perhaps you need to be stronger with your brief to the architect that you need more design help than colour help.

The colour scheme he's come up with is ok but it really needs an architects eye to help the facade treatment along.

Do you have DA for it yet?

Just get it looking a little better and don't worry too much. We're not trying to win design awards just make the best return as possible. I'm not saying to build ****, just don't worry too much about every single color. Look at some similar devs with great color schemes you like in the area and discuss it with your architect/color consultant then make some changes and move on.

    my 2 cents

like what Sonamic said dixon doesn't really provide much variation.
Partially my fault for not being very clear with the architect.
Yes have got DA from council.
I will have another chat with the architect. Hopefully have version 1 to show soon.

Agree, not perfect but hopefully to a degree that buyers are happy to open their wallets.

I'm guessing those gables where unable to be moved - damn.

It's an improvement but I'm going to admit I'm still not a huge fan.

Was there any reason the colour scheme changed? I liked the old one.

The guy I am dealing with at dixon is on holiday at the moment, will try again to see I can move the gables.
Changes the colour scheme because I like the timber look. Not 100% happy yet, might work on another version.

Prefer the old color scheme too. I also like the timber look just don't like the colors of the rest..though at the end of the day much of this nit picking is subjective. Definitely not a fan of the gables though. Love the larger windows.

Which direction does the front facade face?

The timber look on the garage door is a plus from me - I'm just not a fan of the beige facade changes - I'd prefer the grey and white that was there before with the wood added for warmth.
