I'm currently looking at a house in Victoria that was originally a 3 bed 1 bath home, it has had an extension to include a huge "parents retreat" which includes a small kitchen, bathroom and additional laundry.

My thought would be to seperate this house by removing an internal door to essential create 2 residences under one room for renting purposes.

My question is, would this be something I have to get cleared by council, are there regulations I'm unaware of or would it be as simple as I'm making it sound?

The house also only has 1 electrical and water meter so I'm not sure how I'd get around this issue.

I'm sure others have come across similar situations before and would love to hear from other people's experiences!

That was one thought I had but wasn't sure if it's an issue or not.
