I'm doing a locum in Broome from early October to mid January and thinking of driving to combine some sight seeing and avoid flying the dog. Apart from the heat, just wondering about flooding of roads. I'm thinking it would be okay to go up the Stewey Highway and across in early October. That's too soon for those roads around NT and upwards to be flooded generally isn't it? On the way back I thought just straight down the highway through the Pilbara. Anyone done it at that time of year?

October will be fine, no trouble at all.

Thanks Jess, and January should be fine on the highway through Pilbara I reckon? We could take our time coming down anyway if needed.

Coming down should be okay in January, going north might be more problematic :)
Make sure you go to Karijini!

Yes definitely want to see Karijini. There were fires last time we passed so missed it. Might needa trailer tent!
