I would like to buy a new laptop on which I can draw using a pen - for diagrams while consulting with clients.

I bought a crappy Chinese Chuwi, but there is about a 1 second lag between the pen touching the screen and the line appearing on the computer so I am unable to draw with that - waste of $600.

Thinking of a Lenovo Yoga or a Microsoft Surface Book 2.

Anyone have any recommendations or tips?

    I had a Yoga; I wouldn't recommend one.
I've seen the Surface in action and looked pretty damn good.

How about a Samsung Tab S3 tablet with an S Pen?

Reviewers really liked the S Pen - The Galaxy Tab S3 is worth buying just for its S Pen

... but at nearly $1,000 for the models which ship win an S Pen, you're getting close to Windows tablet territory which may give you more functionality.

You can buy a pencil for an Apple iPad 6.... reasonably budget solution.

I've got both and prefer the surface pro. I actually hate the yoga - pen is scratchy and the unit is junk.

    Surface pro is pretty sweet

Mine did start bugging out recently though - might have to do with a hairline crack in the screen (still not sure how it got there)

Thanks Shireboy, i actually have one of those, or similar, but the problem is what you are drawing appears on a different screen. I couldn't get the hang on looking at one thing while drawing somewhere else.

I think i will get the Yoga 920 from Lenovo. it seems to have a lot more bang for the buck than the mircosoft stuff. 16Gig ram, 1TB, i7, 14" screen, compared to the MS surface book 2 which is the same price but 8Gig, 125G HD, i5, 13" screen.

No - the internet/wifi is useless which makes it pretty much unusable. I had to do a factory reset and it seems to be better since then but I'm using my surface instead. The Yoga is my back up but I'm too scared to use it in case I end up in tears on the floor in frustration. :) Let me know how you go with yours - hopefully mine is just a dud. I do seem to be bit cursed with computers - had trouble with my surface to start with too.

I was in a store the other day and they had this really revolutionary system for drawing diagrams - it uses this thin flexible sheet which they say is completely natural and renewable - made from trees apparently!

The "pen" you use to draw on it is also made from trees, or at least the outside bit is - the inside bit was made from rocks!

What's more - you can erase your lines with yet another device which comes from trees (tree sap I believe!?) - they call it an "eraser" (how original!).

My friends and I took one look at this system and laughed and laughed - it will never catch on! I reckon they're just trying to appeal to the hipster/greenie market with these "natural" products.

    :p

Tips? Well I just bought a beautiful MacBook Pro on ebay. $800. Looked in superb condition. $3700 brand new. Hard drive failed after a week. Took it to Apple repair centre, parts no longer available. Memo to myself : don’t buy cheap computers.
