    Hi all,

I'm helping my brother renovate the place he just bought and we're looking to swap out the door knobs - previous owner didn't understand the concept of consistency and every door has a different door knob.

All door knobs seem so expensive @ $35 for privacy sets.
(excluding the cheapo ikonic old style knobs @ $10).

Any one know where I can source some decent lever privacy sets?

Last time i picked up several Gainsborough ones at an auction site at around $13 each... unfortunately that auction site no longer has them (allbids.com.au).

Not a fan of the big green shed. Poor quality overpriced rubbish.
Used ikonic previously... last a few years then it starts flaking.

Neither am I but you wanted cheap. Otherwise just spend the money and get stylish, quality ones.

Where would you recommend knobs that are good value? Decent price but good quality .

Local building recycling centre. We wanted a brass knob - $8 each or $10/10 in a pack. She wanted one. Picked up a good one for $0.50 from the place next door to Recycled Garbage in Marrickville.

Cheaper chinese locksets can be bought at builders supplies stores as one off cheapies typically mean no matching sets. If many are different then the latches and setbacks (centre of lock to edge of door) could even be different affecting retrofit. Depending on the door depends on type to use ie passage, privacy, entry etc. Then these days many people use levers v's knobs. Pick on style and go from there. Cost $10 as a minimum through to around $35.

In Sydney eg Building suppliers: Doors, Timber, Hardware, Mixers & Tapware, Cooking Appliances - KELSO Building Trade Centre
