I actually think it's brilliant marketing by Coles.

This I am well aware of - we do vulture around the roast chicken when we go in late night but usually get beaten by others. Surprisingly I walked into the Wooli near work to pick up lunch the other day (which BTW is usually a can of Macro Baked beans for $0.95 and a can of woolies tuna $1.15) and found a whole rack of roast chicken triple marked down (this is where they have 3 markdown stickers for the uninitiated) to $2 something - had half a chicken for lunch, the other half in a soup for dinner (inc bones), and froze the other 3 bags I picked up :p

So how to exploit this freebie? I guess the easiest way is to go in just before closing time and ask for a roast chicken... by that time they'll all be finished so you get a free voucher just for coming in late

Ok while we are on groceries and other savings:

Woolworths Member Discount - WISH Gift Cards | RACV

For RACV members, you can buy woolies egift cards - gives you effectively 5% of all purchases

Woolworths WISH eGift Cards* can be redeemed at thousands of participating stores across Australia including:
    • Woolworths Supermarkets
    • BIG W
    • Dan Murphy’s
    • BWS
    • Cellarmasters
    • Woolworths co-branded fuel outlets
    • ALH Group venues and outlets
(Actually, I didn't know about the ALH thing until now!!! ~~ it's where we have our monthly Melbourne Eastern meetup - combo this with Monty's rewards and...)

What is interesting is that it brings pretty much all woolies prices in line with Aldi, AND you get the point for your CC (when purchasing the egift card).

For petrol you can still use the 4 cent voucher from woolies.
Because it's a % save, it can get big when fuel is in a expy cyle - eg. $1.40 per litre is 7 cents per litre off + your 4 cent = 11 cents off per litre.

Have a friend who's parents used to feed their 2 dogs exactly the same as what they ate for dinner themselves. Served on a dinner plate & all !

Or just recruit some friend/s fill the trolley with all the chooks
Then you just get your voucher and run

You could actually get more than one voucher, Just need to strategically time this

I might try this as I have friends that would love a free bbq chook
