Just thank your lucky stars it wasn't horses!

After spending an IP fortune on lessons, gear, outfits and feed ... then endless Friday nights plaiting, washing, wrapping, hairspraying - and that's just the horse - then up before dawn on Saturday mornings with the transporting, makeup, nail paint - again, that's just the horse - to spend all day waiting around in the hot sun while they're being shown ...

Always won a bundle of ribbons - but now what to do with them ... ?

My wife has a few very nice blue crochet blankets after a lifetime showing. Tell me all about it, long days travelling sometimes 250-300klms to a show and back. If too far away, camping in the horsefloat (after sweeping the **** out of course). Graduated to motels once she started winning Royals. :)

@Lizzie - I am forever grateful that I am allergic to horses. That means there is no way my children are getting anywhere near them. Horses would absolutely be more expensive then dancing. :)

My niece has to wear black lipstick for her cheerleading. I think it looks horrible! But that’s what they all have to wear.

    Ditto on the horses...

Competing, officiating, judging, coaching and re-educating race horses throughout my 20's was the reason I didn't get into an IP until my 40's

Sure learnt how to sit on a horse though!

By far the most expensive sport (Equestrian sport that is, not pony-in-the-back-paddock-on-weekends-only).

Yes it was a conscious decision at around 20yrs old my wife made to pursue equestrian at the highest level, Royal Show winning. Told me it was going to cost a bit. She loved it, a passion, so I backed her. Some could say it’s wasted $$ but it was worth every cent to see her receiving champion at Royals as a relative “unknown” in that “scene”.

we have one of these at home. Not exactly the same as this, but the bottle holds 12lt.
I refill it out of the tap every fews days. Always nice and cold.
We fill all our re-usable water bottles we need for travelling around/events etc from this.
