I don't think we are disagreeing he is the president and was elected fairly. But that doesn't mean people are not right to be concerned as he appears so thin skinned and unstable to hold such power.

    Time will tell.

... and who the heck throws a childish sissy spat at a media report about an audience ... poor Trump had his feeling hurt again and is lashing out

Ah - apparently it's nowadays not called 'lying" but "alternative facts"

He achieved what he could considering his Congress (similar to our senate) would block any proposal put forward - regardless of whether it was for the benefit of the country/world or not ... he was saddled with a spite, childish and petulant Congress.

One is left to wonder how much more he could have achieved if the automatic naysayers actually put the people they represented first

The topic at hand had nothing to do with protesting. It was all about Trump lying.

However, on the subject of protests
"Peaceful protests are a hallmark of our democracy. Even if I don't always agree, I recognize the rights of people to express their views."

Expanding on this. This was the second of two tweets yesterday.
The first: Screen Shot 2017-01-23 at 11.15.41 am.png
I disagree with the premise. Protests aren't about changing the election result. They are about holding the government accountable. No elected official can claim unlimited power to do what they want just because they are elected. Trump ignores the people at his own peril.

There have been a lot of protests in the past. They can have the power to change things (Gandhi, the downfall of communism in Eastern Europe, the moratorium marches in the 60s). More often they simply don't achieve anything. They key is peaceful protest.

The second tweet, a couple of hours later:

This is more the sort of conciliatory tone which is welcome.

Interesting tweets just following the 2012 election.

Both sides have some of the same reactions. There is no value in blaming just one side.

I read today that they existed so googled "trump tweets 2012 election". Apparently some were deleted within a couple of hours but there were screenshots taken, and they appear in a number of different sites.

Is there any surprise? He spent years trying to delegitimise Obama's presidency through the birther thing.

I think you'll find it was Obama that inherited the mess... from George W. Obama did a fine job of cleaning up, despite a treacherous Congress and the rise of the crazy anti-government Tea Party. Jobs, economy growing again, and perhaps most importantly, the restoration of America's reputation internationally, which had been seriously damaged by Bush.

Yes, compare the photo used to ridicule turnout at the Trump inauguration and this photo which shows Trump at the podium at his inauguration:

Donald Trump just set a very dangerous trap for himself

The second photo shows the inauguration packed, which raised the question why a photo was used to show that the turnout was so little. Big establishment media, losers and fake news?

In that photo, you can see, even from that angle, plenty of white areas where there are no people. I think this has been well proven, with metro numbers as well as photos. The photo from the rear that compares at the same time from the different years is much clearer because you can see behind the people, which isn't easy to see from the front. (And this whole thing wouldn't even be an issue had Trump not lied about it.)

Imagine how packed Obama's photo would look from the front. Here it is...

    File:Obama inaugural address.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

and another... see the difference? You've fallen for it...

The intent was not to ridicule him. It was merely to show crowd size.

The photo you have referred to was from the front. Trump was looking from a low vantage point, and would not have been able to see what the other pictures from a high vantage point at the back would show.

Even Fox News says that Trump's crowds were smaller than Obama's
    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/01/21/fact-check-trump-overstates-crowd-size-at-inaugural.html
    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...fing-with-press-after-crowd-size-dispute.html

The official metro figures state that there were far fewer metro trips as at 11am on this inauguration than the previous two
    Metro on Twitter
Press Secretary Spicer used incorrect metro figures to make his comparison of the crowd. In a later press conference he appears to have backtracked on his estimates of the in person attendance.

The comparison figures would not have drawn anywhere near as much attention as they did if they had been accepted.

You mentioned ridicule of the turnout. The actual ridicule was not at the turnout, but at the blatant lying by Spicer about the numbers who attended- especially where he used metro figures which were so easily provable as wrong.
