That’s right, I’m already seeing a huge influx of capital/interest. I’ve had so many people asking me these 3 weeks. Here will lose out in comparison if they feel they’re feel not welcome here

If you haven’t heard any single racial attack, perhaps you can google “international students assaulted”. Video footage was all over international news.

Your right I did see that actually.
Surely there would need to be a lot more incidents like that though to issue a travel warning?

    These things happen.

My friend who was the captain of a reputable school, grew up here etc, is now on the school’s board of directors and has a honest hard-working local job, was in Woolworths the other day and had a Caucasian lady come up to her and tell her to go back to China. I’m not sure she’s even been to China but anyway or can speak Chinese.

Most people are by and large nice obviously, but there’s no shortage of party spoilers.

    1. Two asian girls were spat on in Sydney
    2. Melbourne bus driver being told to go back to China.
    3. House spray painted “Covid 19 go back to China”......twice
    4. Restaurant staff was told to go back to China, I think it was in Glen Waverley.

Those are just from the news that I recall.

    And more.....Unfortunately.

I was asked by parents who were concern about the safety of their kids.

Unfortunately I have seen cases of it at local grocery store. Told a pair of fellas to **** off the other day who were mouthing of to a young lady who was on her own. They were only young just showing off to each other.
Not a huge deal but this stuff was also happening well before covid

These are extremely minor incidents and one could argue would maybe even occur prior to Covid. The bashing is a different story but that’s the only physical altercation.

To call a do not travel based upon things like that makes zero sense. China well know it’s safe to travel here.

That’s the not the point. China is reminding us that we will suffer economically if we are not on their side. China knows Australia is safe and a great place to live but we are their chewing gum stuck on their shoes... makes them feel uncomfortable.

The Chinese Govt have chosen to amplify the problem for political purposes. It's as simple as that.

Even if it is 'safe', nobody wants to feel discriminated against while holidaying in a new country, facing the possibilities to be told to 'go back to China'.

If someone xenophobic tells me to go back to my own country, from which ever country it is said from.
I wouldn't spend any time or money in there. I would discourage any of my friends and family to go as well.
Why would anyone feel the discrimination while holidaying.

Agree - CCP is just being bullies. Tariffs, tourism, name calling and trade war. Time to rip the band-aid, divest from a totalitarian regime that does not care about their people but only wants power.

If we bend our knees to USA or CHINA or Russia. It is still the same thing.

But this is EVERYWHERE in the world. No matter where you go, someone will not want you there.

Take the example of Vietnam. One of the best places I have been in my life. If you travel there you going there knowing if you head North, your not going to be loved. Most North Vietnamese are nice though but Ofcourse a few have something to say (a lady smacked my wife’s hand in a market). But no way would I not go knowing that. It didn’t make the experience any less magical knowing a few people don’t want you there and are going to have something to say. Majority are very gracious you are there.

And I tell you right now, NOrth Vietnam is a hell of a lot more hostile than Australia is towards Asian people.

If an Aussie student got bashed in China because he’s white, all hell would break loose in Aust media. While China would accuse Aust of sensationalising it for political purposes. Nice to live in a bubble. No wonder there are wars all the time.
