It's great to see posts from a big variety of people including newbies and also most of the "old timers" (sorry guys) posting up some great-"this is my journey" posts in the intro section.
One thing I have noticed is there seems to be a lot of double posts regarding the same topics through certain areas of propertychat.
I am sure "sticky's" will come back in which may reduce some of these double posts in the future, maybe in the confirmation email new members could have a cheat sheet for some basics in the forum-search functions etc
Not sure if anyone still has it around but an old post in SS was "teach a man to fish" which I think would be great to re post for some of the newer members of Propertchat..

    cheers

I really prefer the "like" system, too.

    1) It doesn't seem to be limited, whereas I was forever getting told I'd given somebody, or everybody, too much kudos on Somersoft. "Spread the love", I say!

    2) If you gave kudos to a comment where people were disagreeing on Somersoft, it felt a bit like gossiping or being sly. Like Gockie, I prefer the openness here. And if you see that the person with the opposite viewpoint has way more likes, well, then perhaps you will think a bit more carefully about what you say / how you say it, or even re-consider whether you're mistaken. :)

I think it might be psychological aspects of seeing avatars against topics.

    More colour - more vibrancy.

A lot of conversations have simply rolled over as well - and there was a lot.

    Post counts mean squat.

    Yes it is unlimited

... although I will mention that I have a nice easy tool which I can use to remove all likes someone has made over a period of time (eg last hour or last day, etc) ... to handle cases of "like" spam.

I don't have any interest spending all my time on here, life is limited, when the sun shines get outside I say!

As for the new layout/theme, it's more in line with a couple of memberships I'm a part of, the colours are great, I personally could not stand the colours of SS, but it was solid info and such an incredible community that one had to spend time in there.

The modern responsiveness of themes is a must especially moving forward for any community sites, I absolutely love this theme on my devices but then I would expect that of any modern membership/community if they wish to keep their retentions high with solid activity levels.

    Awesome job Sim. :D

I reckon if the more senior/experienced folk are posting to simply get their post rate up; they have self-esteem issues.

I'm sure this is not the case.

I post a lot because I've got no other mates, and nothing else to do. :)

I am not noticing the old regular posters (including me) posting any differently or more often then on SS.

It appears more - going from 0 to 100 threads looks a lot different than going from 20,000 to 20,100 threads.

I'm impressed! Perp has as many 'likes' as messages posted. :) There might be a few others but we can't see. Jess mentioned it somewhere else - maybe we should divide number of messages by number of likes to get a true LVR on quality posting. ;)

There is a facility within the forum software which measures post/like ratio already - it's just not visible anywhere ... I'll have to put something in place to show it.

Wondering the same thing. Two-thirds of what I say is tripe. That must be improved! :(
The renovator and home improvement threads should have a "Was this helpful?" button for your ScottNoMates and bob shovel types.

Yep I'm another SS lurker PC poster! Still hesitant about posting a new thread... I tend to go back to the SS archive first and find my answer there

PropertyChat gets launched. Shortly after, PropertyChat feels "alive"
    Terminator Genisys is released

    Co-incidence?
