I remember talking to an old bloke at the Royal Easter Show many years ago and he had a similar phrase based on hats - "The wider the brim the fewer the acres".

I think you're thinking of the signature belonging to Mark. L. The financial planner that worked for Navra. He had a few usernames including Mr Fabulous.

Yep, that's him! I used to call me Mark Alphabet, because he had so many letters in his last name.

Five pages of posts. I hardly call two posters 'many'. Xenia has been gone for a while.

Over time ...I have developed a BS radar list of the Big Hat No Cattle Types profile:

    1. Post that they have made a killing...but provide no substantiated numbers. They will not discuss details numbers....the ALL encompassing privacy thang comes out. I can understand current deals but past deals...seriously?
    2. When asked to come to meet...they say they are private...say they are coming ..and never do.
    3. Their posts about actual about how good they are ...not about deals.
    4. They never share their bad deals...I know some on here have developed in Sydney...Brisbane ...and have made very poor profits.
    5. They keep harping about mindset.....risks..etc...to newbies but never about where to go.
    6. Being told when they are PM'd by newbies...they never respond. They will support other perceived high status people..only.
    7. Posting is about maintaining (face) on the forum rather than content.
    8. Will rarely defend their view points and put up an effective defence/argument.
    9. Looks down on people ...who are outside of their perceived circle/area.
    10. Post a lot about how they rescued friends or did good deeds....again the magic of perception.
    12. Keen to show their trappings of wealth (Rolex Watches..LandRovers....Sports Cars)...but again will never front up face to face.
    13. Weak personalities....in general...when fight or flight syndrome is enacted ...they flee....

Lets say I have over the years learnt to read people.... in my career as it was required in my job. I had to sort the I am gonnas vs people who could deliver. Occassionally some have slipped through....but a BS guard is required.....in investing.....

Over time I find it fascinating what people on forums/facebook will believe. The endless drivel..and stuff people believe....readily is amazing.
