A few important steps that I forgot:

    1. Put stars and moon away
    2. Bring out sun
    3. Fluff up clouds
    4. Move house 2" to the left

No good to pass judgement mate. What works for some may not work for others..
It may be "anal". But it is habits that form performance, which results is outcomes.

I think Grey is looking solely for mindset routines, not daily routines ;) It's a good habit to get in to but I'm sure plenty see it as a waste of time.

If I'm not going to the gym, I'll still get up at 6am and either continue reading a mindset or property book for about an hour. Then I'll quickly write down my To Do list for that day. Do the biggest and hardest task first (this one is a really hard habit to get in to!).

Once the girlfriend wakes I'll switch to an audiobook or downloaded YouTube video. I recommend anything by Brian Tracey to start with.

Something I learned from the B2B sales job was writing my weekly goals out every Sunday night helped clarify what needs to be done and apparently gets the subconscious working. Really helps with the focus and accountability as I put them in front of the computer. Also learned that I'm atrocious at procrastination and self-sabotage so that was quite confronting in its own regard.

I have my 15, 10, 5 and 1 year goals (personal and financial) all set out but will tweak them every couple of months or as new things pop up.

Visualizations, affirmations and yoga are down the bottom of the list but will definitely try them one day to see what kind of effect they can have. I've trained with Olympic athletes who used visualization techniques with great success so it's definitely worthwhile but hard when your goal is 10 years away as opposed to a race in the next hour.

Call me weird, but personally I spend less time on fluffy activities trying to convince myself that I am successful, and more time on actually doing things to be successful.

We certainly have a morning routine, ours is more about connection and family rather than goal review. I think it is important to consider what it means to start the morning 'correctly' as that will be different for everyone.

I am a morning person and wake up at 100% the coffee is just because I like it. Not because I need it. Hubby, is a night owl and hates mornings.

Our morning routine is about a stress less waking up so that means:
    1. I wake up and make us coffees
    2. let the cats into the bedroom for morning cuddle time
    3. No talk of goals, money, work. Just time to connect with each other.

This probably takes about 30 minutes and we are both happier and more productive during the day. If I start the day talking about money or work or our plan or what we need to achieve, hubby gets stressed as it takes him longer to wake up and be coherent.

...because that's what time we have to get up to go to work and he comes with me every day.

Actually, the scraping up bit is a fib, as soon as the 4:50 alarm goes off he's up and wagging his tail at my bedside waiting for me to get up and bring him to the office. He loves it, (more than can be said for me).

But if you post a positive facebook meme you are three quarters of the way to being a success in life!

Wasn't judging; just putting it into my context of effort.

Sorry if I upset you GG; just being a bit glib.

2 minute vid sums it up. The internet knows everything! Coincidentally came up on my fb! Normally I put my tin foil hat on when I wake up

I used to think it was all fluff and nonsense, I would have been stirring along with @Bayview, so I appreciate his work ;) but I've changed. I am still a Scrooge and have little time for fluff but positive outlook does affect how you attack the day or situations.
Eg. Moving house, not a fun job. We've moved heaps and hate it but going into it with a plan and a kick ass attitude does make a difference. It's still **** but those little things don't get to you and your less likely to lose your cool. Still plenty of swearing at inanimate objects but overall you come out better at the other end
    Namaste peeps ;)

That 7 min workout is something I like to start but don't have the energy in the mornings.
However, an year ago or so I started doing bit of push ups in the morning. It was a struggle and I was able to do only 10 at the beginning. Now, it became a habit and reached my goal of 24.
Unfortunately, today my 3 year old decided to jump on my back. I thought... "ok... it is like adding a bit of weight" but I couldn't pass 10! Collapsed :(

and falls asleep within minutes. no disrespect, I like that guy's ideas but I'm "absorbing" the ideas subconsciously :)

It seems a lot of people drink coffee in the morning but does it actually work? I've tried it a few times but never got a strong stimulating wake up effect like cocaine or methamphetamine would give. Maybe it's more a taste thing. I drink two glasses of water then go for a swim.

Book mentioned in OP has a lot of bad reviews including this one. You can use the point summary at the end if you don't have time to read the book.

First, the overall premise is not a bad idea. However:

The target audience of this book is someone who has never read any personal development books and views the whole genre suspiciously. For me, it smacked of a basic thesis, padded with a hasty potpourri of other people's ideas and coated with gushing "you can have the life of your dreams!" promises. I found myself having to skim through basic explanations of meditation and visualization to get at what Elrod was offering as far as original thinking.

If this were a blog post, not a 150 page book, I would probably have appreciated it more. The basic premise could be summarized thus:

To improve our lives, we must improve ourselves

The morning is the best time for self improvement (have energy, quiet, easier to make time)

Spending an hour doing a little of few good practices goes a lot way to self improvement

    Those exercises are:

    Silent meditation

    Affirmations

    Visualization of the day ahead

    Exercise

    Reading, particularly to learn something

    Scriving (aka Writing, journaling)

    10 minutes each.

I'm going to try this general idea because I don't think it is bad; I just wish I didn't have to slog through so much text for so little information.

I drink several cups of tea per day (usually from 1 tea bag reused over and over again) and I think I need less sleep since I started drinking that many cups of tea.
Does that sound logical? Or is it just because I'm a bit older now?

I used to sleep a lot (like roughly 10.30pm till about 7.30am) and I like how my body simply wakes up earlier in the morning now. (Now its more like 11 or 11.30pm till about ~6am). I'm late 30's.

    Get up
    Go to the toilet
    Have a shower
    Have a coffee
Feed and play with the dog
    Start working

Don't have or need any of that superficial crap in my life.
