do smoke alarms have to be hard wired qld?

    first investment property bit of a easy question i just wasn't to sure. i'm assuming hard wired but just wanted to double check.

    I heard it's not worth the added cost because the backup battery has to be replaced every year anyway.

    But I went ahead and had them installed regardless, so that smokers won't try to disable them.

    Certifier will require one as part of related building works, so relocate your home on the block and you need one.

    Only new and significantly renovated properties, willair. That very sheet states that a 9V alarm is the minimum legal requirement if the property hasn't been constructed or significantly renovated since 1997. (Though they recommend that you upgrade to a lithium battery or hard-wired.)

    Maybe so,but I like to sleep at night and as we have a barrister within the family I was talking about this a few years back around his bbq with other legal people,and when I asked him what might happen he just poured the water on the bbq plate,and said that's what will happen..
