Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had used one of these DIY Power of attorney kits before or anything similar? http://legalwill.com.au/legal-power-attorney/?type=attorney I need to give someone power of attorney for a few months whilst I am away and I figure that this is way easier than going to see a solicitor... I trust the person completely which is why I was contemplating going for a DIY kit. Cheers!
Could be ok, or it could be disasterous. depends on the terms, how it is set up etc. If it is just a short term thing for a specific transaction you may want to make it restrictive. Maybe have a back up attorney too.
DIY kits are fraught with danger: uncertainly in language, missing important instructions, easy misunderstanding of an attorney's powers, lack of enforceability if not executed properly, etc. A power of attorney should only cost about $100-$150 from a lawyer, who will explain everything = a very wise investment.
I thought that might be the case, thanks for the comments. I will take some time to get this done properly
