Not mine, but an interesting DIY album from a guy who built his own home theatre set up over 3 weekends Imgur Link
That's an awesome setup! As I have a small block, I couldn't have the room that large. In-wall speakers and subwoofer were won as a consequence of buying the projector. Planned the size of this room to ensure it was just big enough for the projector. Room is not big enough for a second row of recliners so I have a stack of bean bags. For cable ducts use 50mm PVC pipe and make sure the turn radius on any bends is quite wide. My electricians stuffed that up and hence I couldn't run HDMI cables. Work-around was to run CAT5 and use HDMI converters. This was the end result. Recliner seats are from a factory-direct place in Sydney. Lounge-in-Comfort. http://www.loungeincomfort.com.au
If you need inspiration, this is a good place for screens and other toys. http://www.thecableconnection.com.au
Hi, Here's some images of the one I just put in my new home in Bardon QLD. And here it is almost finished... I've just bought the 110" Showtime Fixed Screen from TheCable Connection which isn't installed yet. That is the room in the middle of the day with the projection on to a brown wall... I run: BenQ W1070 DLP projector 110" Showtime Premium 16:9 Fixed Frame projector screen Yamaha RX-V577 AV Receiver Paradigm 7 Monitors Front floorstanding Paradigm Centre 3 Paradigm Atom monitor surrounds Paradigm PDR-100 subwoofer XBOX 360, Blu-Ray, Foxtel etc etc Cheers, Michael
Here is mine that I built during my PPOR reno. Meant to post a thread on SS about it but never got around to it. Need a new cabinet.
We have the same tastes Same projector I have Paradigm Studio 60's and centre, Richter Krakatoa sub and Anthem MRX700 receiver. Screen is motorised so I can use the room if I felt like it, but its a dedicated area Walls are Grey Moggy, and ceiling I forget but its a charcoal not a black. All in matt finish
I had good success in getting factory-2nd or ex-demo receivers via eBay. I have a Yamaha Aventage 9.2 in my living room and a Sony 7.2 in the Home Theatre. @MichaelW - I also have the Benq W1070. Have you tried 3d content?
For TV content I have some HDhomerun network TV tuners under the stairs, providing quad tuners for a MythTV server. I run no-name android boxes running Kodi ( was XBMC ) for browsing streamed channels or recorded TV content. Have one of these for my TV and another in my Home Theatre. I can also run the kodi.org software in my Mac to watch TV there.
This could possibly tie in with the Netflix (and others) thread Watch your shows in comfort and style
Hey Wombat, Haven't used the BenQ W1070 for 3D content yet, but just took delivery of 4 sets of the 3D glasses for it. I'm giving them to my son for his 10th birthday next Tuesday so looking forward to giving it a go. Is it good? Can you run non-3D blu-ray in 3D mode or does it have to be 3D content? I think I read you can just turn the 3D on in the projector then run any blu-ray content in 3D mode... Cheers, Michael
@MichaelW, I haven't tried 3D content yet as I don't have any bluray content - or the glasses. Let me know how well it goes. What glasses did you get?
