Makes for a fun classification for listing purpose. Australian equities when it isn't to some extent.

Shows classifying things may not always work.

DUI would make a good one stop shop if you were happy with the international allocation.

Ok guys and gals. My next super purchase will be DUI. :) Funds should hit my account in the next week. My current employer only deposits my super in one big lump every quarter (as opposed to when I worked at CBA when it was every fortnight), but at least it gives me a solid 3 months to consider my purchases.

I know, weird name, could be off putting! Maybe that’s why it’s under NTA so often lol.

Bit like a company acronym. UTI

    A great LIC.

Trouble is with the likes of DUI and even PIC for example where the International allocation is discretionary the investor can never really be sure what they’ll end up owning in the future. I owned DUI early on when it had International exposure then they decided to get rid of it. Years down the track it’s back in again. From memory I thought the reintroduction of International could have happened earlier given market conditions.

I suppose that’s why one invests in LICs, to let others make the decisions.

So in regard to determining our International allocation I only count on listed funds where the International exposure is guaranteed.

Looking at DUI’s asset allocation over the years I think if truth be told the Fund’s real name is Diversifying Under the Influence:confused:.

    I see your view @Froxy.

As far as I'm concerned no point in over-complicating things. DUI for me is Oz as my holding isn't large and so any international component would be immaterial.

just checking DUI for the first time, what a quality LIC. Dividend yield seems a bit low but with some of the top holdings being industrial and not so financial dominated like others and the international exposure, looks good.

    Dont hold any yet tho!

Had a look at the half-yearly report while having a relaxing coffee.

You were spot on about dividend. No change at 7c ff. EPS 8.2c. Reduced borrowings slightly.

I do like the way the company reports. Very little verbiage. Only what is required. Bland is one way of putting it. Not glossy at all. Very much like its website.

As an addendum to the post I did some back of the envelope numbers comparing DUI to the XJO. If I am right, which is highly improbable, it indicated over the last 10 years DUI would have been a pretty good buy.

Be interesting to run DUI and AUI side by side for both price and total dividends. May attempt it if I can generate sufficient energy.

A large mug of double shot of coffee could assist.

Not really the correct benchmark and a fair comparison though given the inclusion of Global Equities.

An interesting comparison could be DUI vs AUI (80%) / VGS (20%)?

True but how long has DUI had Global Equities in its holdings is one other factor. Gets bloody complicated and as a result it's a Why bother scenario? :)
