True. But maybe it acts as a deterrent for tenants using the dishwasher incorrectly.
The solution isn’t just to get rid of the dishwasher altogether.

Tenants aren't a second class section of population so just like built-ins they are deemed essential for most non-cave dwellers.

Neither an owner or a managing agent is required by law to have a spare set of property keys. So the REA or owner will not necessarily have a spare set of keys. It is good practice to have these in case of emergencies but the law doesn't mandate this.

'Scrape food scraps every time before putting in dishwasher'

    1.Open dishwasher door.
    2. Slide bottom tray out.. all the way.
    3.Remove filter.
    4. Run filter under tap, use gentle scrubbing brush til it looks clean.
    5 Put back .
If you don't want to use Rinse Aid, try White vinegar, much cheaper, and it works.
    I hope this helps

Similar applies to some front loading washing machines, particularly in apartments where these are supplied.
I had mine ring the managing agent wanting a 3 month old machine "serviced" as it wasn't cleaning clothes or finishing the wash cycle, they were promptly told to read the manual and clean the filter !
*we supply photo copied manuals for DW,Washing machine and AC

I've always wondered why don't they add one of those food mulchers they put in sinks into a washing machine? It's always made sense to me, but then again I've never had a washing machine in the house.

Except if it is a Miele, their manual recommends against using vinegar. Not sure why though, no other brand I know off recommends against it.
