My guess is a lot do invest in the ASX top 200-100-25 in one way or another in their super funds ect but they are never in the decisions to fix the buying or selling price just wait for the cheque to hit the account, nothing wrong with that..

But when one looks at direct share holding set-up's held by a company name or your personal name it is very different and will not come from any corporate finance textbook because of the way everyone will spy an opportunity is very different as some are builders and some end up destroyers..

You can see why there is an allure to individual shares

STW (ASX 200) vs a number of individual stocks for 2019

Which ones will top the list this year ... I have no idea

The only good part is for those who invest only in equities and that would come down to circumstances --education --and a certain composite of our genetics is,you don't have to bench-mark your growing wealth
    against anyone ..
Just like the big swings are always precipitated by actions and events we have a zero control over and most times are just really a mask for what is going on inside as some have a degree of darkness within the top asx listed 50..

I bought some WES today. I'm actually pretty excited to hold this company. Other direct holdings are CBA, WBC and BHP. Direct shares comprise 30% of my portfolio, the rest are LICs. I'm thinking of never selling any of my direct shares or LICs but I imagine at some point these will represent large amount of money and it will affect my SANF.

Missed that one, only had 2 small trades so far this year in CPH entry at just above 11 cents plus entry cost ,i call that one bread and butter ,like another listed EGO that i played for years one can play these like a yo-yo -up down and full circle

MSB is up about 33-3333 percent so far in a very short span, that's all so far in the small caps the rest of the standalone fully dpr portfolio can just sit there like an old bull leaning up against the gum tree watching the gate shut ,as all the new cattle enter the paddock..

Correct,i have not played that one for a while ..
I think from memory which this time of the day is not that sharp it would go from 1-2 cents run on nonintellectual media then bump it up around 5-6 cents then go back to one cent ..I call it the yo--yo effect fire-house effect..

Just had a quick look as MSB as it's sitting in the pre-plan walk-away kill zone ,leverage is not enormous as someone sent me something last last night what is causing this asset to rise.
The volume is low reset to sell too $3-25 range wiwo..''''IMHO'''.

Still dreaming of FMG. Had 50000 of them 12 months ago for $4.55. Had is the operative word. Wonder if they will hit $20 any time soon?

You would to look at several different sides to this one from the minority shareholders to the '''ONES'' that have a huge stake in the company ..Then look towards China as nothing will change the behaviour pattern ..imho..

Imagine if India becomes a customer of FMG or if FMG diversifies into other minerals eg lithium for psychotic drug manufacture. Heck I'll be there with a wheel barrow and flogging it off in Mt Druitt lol

    Sure:

    Lithium (medication) - Wikipedia

Apparently lithium was once used in soft drinks as a mood stabiliser just before the 1929 stock market crash. Probably explains a lot lol....."Hey Gekko, give me another 7 Up before I jump from the 44th floor".
