    1. Does not surprise me at all given the country's background. Heck, even Japan does it at first entry. FWIW I've had a friend visit a well known 5 star Vietnamese resort and she told me all her family had to be face scanned.

We went to Japan & China in 2018. We weren't fingerprinted in Japan but we were in China. Due to miscommunication, I put my left hand on the scanner when they wanted my partner's left hand. Instead of redoing it, they just continued and scanned his right hand. So his file will have my left hand and his right hand. I was worried it would cause issues when we tried to depart but they didn't check fingerprints on the way out. The way things are currently, I can't see us going back to China, so hopefully we never have to try and explain the mix-up.

@Toon there is a Chinese student/agent here, enrolled in UTS and living in a squalid one bedroom shared Pyrmont apartment, who is now investigating your file lol. Beware of anyone trying to give you two handed "high fives".

I'm wrong. My wife reminded me of the little trolley things they had in the customs queues. They fingerprint really quickly and check you with thermal cameras before you get to the customs officers to check for illnesses and criminal history. Completely forgot about that.

Ah yes the thermal cameras, any 'hot' people are picked out.

What if you wear ice packs around your chest? Might not get picked. One of datto's top hacks when getting checked out.

US has been finger and face scanning at immigration for years, why wouldn't other countries be doing it too

New system coming in China too, you will have to spit in a tube at immigration. You can get some more social points if you don't miss the tube too.

I don't see how it could - I didn't provide my prints to get my passport.
I've only done fingerprints for criminal checks and to become a citizen (which I believe is a criminal check anyways).
