My parents decided to go purchase an OTP build last year. Many delays, should have been completed last year. Developer is most likely going to go bankrupt because they can't get funding from the bank. They're not experienced in the field and neither am I to be honest but I have the internet, I told them the possible risks going in and I heavily recommended going against it since day 1. They didn't listen, they're stubborn old immigrants and I'm just considered a kid.
What can they do now? Is there anything they can really do?

It hits me hard because in foresight and hindsight that $50k deposit would have been better off invested in me. Lol.

First thing is to check where their deposit is - was it released to vendor or held in trust account?

If it was released as part of conditions of sale and developer going bankrupt , you need legal advice now
