    Kids... natures alarm clock.
Daylight saving means nothing to them.

Now I understand why parents like waking up their teenage kids. Payback!

Totally looking forward to that. Muahahahah

We can do that in Queensland without daylight saving. My kids never adjusted during the trial. It was indeed a "trial".

Just came across this old thread while cleaning up the Living Room forum, and given it is now relevant again, thought it was worth the bump.

Here was the original reason for the thread - tips on how to manage this weekend's end to Daylight Savings:

Now that I've saved all of this daylight over summer (it's stored in them solar panels) where can I cash it in?

Timely reminder (did you see what I did there?)

I used to hate getting up at 2am to change all the clocks. This time I’ll be on an overnight flight .... timezone and daylight savings. Thank god for smart phones.

Straight to a Holden dealership to the Commodore clock recalibrated Monday morning.

I'm with you - getting up to take junior to school and it's still dark nearly 7am. Hanging out for next week.

And I loooooove winter. Have had the fire going three nights earlier in the week when we dropped to single digits

You can use the same machines as the 'Return & Earn' bottle machines found around Sydney. You know, the ones that have people hiding in the shadows the night before bin collection & then rummaging around other people's recycling bins at night.

I've booked all my electronics and clocks to see my psychologist to talk through whether they want to change or not.

My older clocks have already gone through the 'change' and are temperamental at best (at least they tell the right time twice a day).

Me too. I don’t understand why can’t they just keep it. I want to arrive home and still see the sun.
On side note, I welcome the additional hour of sleep.....

So remind me what we're supposed to do at 2am Sunday morning again?

Change the clocks back an hour, change our smoke detector batteries, and change our prime ministers? Did I miss anything?

So if the clocks go back an hour at 2.00am Sunday morning, does that mean I can have an extra drink or I have lost an hour's sobering up time?

You get an extra hour of sleep.

I always remember this by recalling that we lose out by having less light in the evening, but gain an extra hour of sleep to make up for it.

I've never bothered to change any clock or my watch. All set to Eastern Standard Time.

They'll be correct for six months although I suppose it's really difficult to add a 1 to the displayed time during daylight saving. Anyways the Sun don't know the difference. Or maybe it does so we should blame those pesky astronomers for adjusting the time it rises or sets.

DLS is definitely a personal thing.
Happy to have it over the summer months, but don't see the need to extend it through March into April.
Prefer it to be light earlier in the morning for both work commitments and leisure activities.
