    Me too...
I suppose it's not too bad in Sydney though, it could be a heck of a lot worse.

That's why we don't want it Qld.

At 8.30pm mid-summer the sun would still be blazing down and far too hot to walk the dog. You would have to wait till it cooled down, around 10pm..... but you couldn't do it then, you would still be trying to get the kids to sleep......

Being someone who grew up in South Australia and so never really enjoying the humidity of a Sydney summer, I do actually quite like Sydney winters - especially those periods where you get day after day of blue sky and lower humidity when you can actually go out and do things and enjoy the sunshine.

Very much not like Adelaide or Melbourne where winter is just cold and miserable.

This will make my life a tad easier, Perth 3 hours behind East, easier to conduct business and hate getting those 6 am phone calls.

Like Brisbane. Winter months are the best!

But I don't like it getting dark before 6pm. Reckon I would support daylight savings in Qld - but only for winter when we could actually enjoy the later daylight!!

Being a "perthite" I never really understood it.
We did that 3year trial - the first two years I hated it. I was living in Geraldton, and used to regularly use the mornings for surfing/diving, which I couldnt do when day light savings kicked in. I convinced my boss that most of my clients didnt switch their clocks (they were farmers/fishermen), so I could start at the 'normal time' and work an hour later in the evening.

For the last year I moved to Perth, and diving before work wasnt practical, so I loved the evening sunlight.

All the arguments about kids sleeping, grass growing, curtains fading are all ********. It is about personal preferance.
In summer up here, its still light at 10pm in summer, and the kids sleep just fine, and the curtains dont fade any quicker.

You are right it's personal preference. My neighbour who likes to garden in the morning hated it. I was cycling to work in the dark in the morning, so I didn't like it either.

Yeah. Qld doesn't have it - they simply stopped the clock 20 or so years ago.

    Daylight what?

What is this daylight savings of which you speak?
Is it a new type of term deposit?

I am so happy Perth does not have daylight saving.

We are in the same timezone as Beijing - why would we want to go away from that?

Our future is China: not Sydney.

Agree - as much as I like it, it goes on a bit long these days. Best thing about DLS is the week it ends.

The additional hour sleep really made a difference when I arrived to work this morning. Feel like I can conquer the world now!
