Anyone following this great event? Australia has Toby Price in the motorcycles section. He is currently leading after coming in third place last year in his first attempt. I saw Toby at the Finke desert race 6 months ago which he won. SBS covers the race from 5pm to 5.30 every day.

    See ya's.

Go Toby!!! Hopefully he goes two steps up from last year and takes the win. He's an amazing athlete.

Motorbikes are simply the best (dirt or road).

I would think the trucks require the most skill and endurance and concentration ..

I don't think so JDP1. With the bikes it's only you doing the navigation, riding, and maintenance (in the field if required). With the trucks there are three people on-board for these things. Racing the bikes all day for nearly one month is intense.

yeah, that's one way to look at it...the other way is that trucks are more difficult to get though the terrain (especially when they had it in the sahara), not nimble and agile and certainly not forgiving to mistakes eg cant easily recover if the truck tips over; requires a bit of skill to drive them big-ass kamaz trucks through the desert.

Definitely not wrong JDP1 - the trucks would be a challenge driving off-road however the bikes are way more physically demanding.

It's just awesome seeing all of these great athletes and vehicles competing together. Fantastic!

Toby Price is a freak. Hopefully he can keep chipping away at the leaders in the next couple of stages..

I am following all the updates of this great event on the sports news australia website. Just read an hour ago that Toby Price is just one stage away from becoming the first australian to win the rally. Praying for him to win, more because he is from NSW.

Saw the result on the news tonight; I don't follow it but very cool to see an Aussie winning.

Especially, as noted above, with Tony's prior injuries etc

Yeah quite a feat..dunno how he stomached the risk given his prev injury and the risk of the race...some serious injuries in the race especially for the bikes...
