Roof vent has rotted and possums took up residence. They have now been relocated and next issue is to deal with the vent itself. Have asked for a quote on a colorbond attachment and it has come back at $850  .
To me, it seems ridiculous but seeking knowledgable opinions from the handy types, please. :)

Maybe panel it and insert an off the shelf vent.
Or angle slat it, add/ fit fly screen to the inside of frame

Have a chat with an air-grille fabricator (eg. Air Grilles) and get a local to install.

Half of the cost will be in accessing the gable safely - power line is next to the grille and will require scaffolding.

Cut to size perforated sheet and 8 screws should do the trick.

Just needs a 'tiger tail' (black and yellow striped protective sleeve) round the power line for safety. I got one installed temporarily (free in Vic) by my power wholesaler.

A ladder will be fine at that height. Alternatively, access from inside the roof space.

IIRC painters are about the only trade permitted to work off ladders.

Yeah, if that frame is timber, I would just buy mesh or wire and screw it on from either outside or inside or both.

The gauze they use for security doors would work too and you can spray it to match.
