    Hidy ho

    Im looking at a piece of land (with a house) that is showing as Lot Type=CROWN using local government mapping tools. I assume the government owns this land but what are the implications for development if i buy it?

    Location = WA (Melville)

    Potentially nothing special? It doesn't inherently matter who you buy a piece of land off...

    Is it for sale?

    Yes its for sale on realestate.com.au
    I know leasehold is bad news since you never actually own it outright forever. I don't know anything about crown land restrictions

    It just depends on what you're buying. It could be no different, or completely different.

    If it's for sale then it's not leasehold. State Govt may have already started liquidating assets - but these do come up from time to time from the SLS vaults.

    Who are you buying it from? If it is council land, it must be 'Operational land' ie not recreational land. If you are buying from the Crown, then it will need to have its title.

    That's the "crown land"? It looks like a normal property for sale with a private owner.

    I don't know why it says that on intramaps. I don't think it means anything. Its got a private owner on the title.
