Credit file access without consent

    Just wondering what the penalty is for an organisation that intentionally accesses a person's credit file without their consent? Where would be the best place to make a complaint about something like this? Thanks :)

    Firstly, complain to the organisation and see how they reply. They may have a good reason and have implied consent. Clarify the issue with them first.
    There is usually a complaints process that needs to be followed. Send a complaint via letter or email first. Then see if you need to take it further.
    You can talk to the CIO for further direction - not for profit (Credit and Investments Ombudsman):
