    Hi All,

My 4 year old kitchen benchtop has a 30 cm or so crack near the cooktop.

Not sure if anyone has done DIY repair or you have engaged a professional to put the steel bar underneath and seal the top?

Appreaciate if you have any reliable contact for a similar repair.

    Thank you,

    Anne

Thats a quartz composite benchtop not granite,

Crack like that... may be fixable with a resin injection... otherwise replacement time. It looks like ice snow or similar you may be able to get a matching piece (batch variations aside) in the same.

I know this does not help, but do you mind sharing if you know what caused this.

i'll put a buck on the fact there are pot drawers underneath with big, heavy pots in them.

as they are opened and closed they flex the cabinet.

How disappointing. Any luck with a 7 year builders guarantee?? My neighbours cracked between the sink and zip tap. The kitchen company replaced the top for her after 2 years use.

A crack like that is from a point load or thermal fracturing as Stone does not crack on its own.
It has been there a while as the crack is so long. Like a crack in the windscreen of your car...a crack in any stone will keep growing or running.

There is no DIY fix. We only know of one company that can fix such damage so you can not see it and it will restore the Stone Benchtop back to the original state. The Stone Guy they are Australia wide and do fantastic work
