The mass vaccination hub established by the ACT Government, which opened today, is aiming to vaccinate 1,000 per day of the 5-11 yo group.

About 400 five to 11 year olds had been vaccinated at the mass clinic by lunchtime on the first day of appointments.

According to the ABS data I could find, in 2020 there were 15k in the 5-9 group and 13.5k in the 10-15 group. So say about 20k in the 5-11 group.

I don't know if children outside of the ACT are to be included in the program but I'll assume they won't turn anyone away if a booking is made.

Ah. So that's where all the missing NSW vaccines went. Pharmacies who have had paediatric orders in since mid December, in anticipation, still haven't received anything

Doubt that would be the cause. The Federal Government doesn't give a toss about Canberra. Canberra ceases to exist beyond Parliament House. No favours does Andrew Barr get from the Coalition.

This is old and not sure if this has been updated but it is supposed to reflect the allocations by State. As always the difference between what is proposed and what actually happens.....

Pfizer’s chief executive has revealed that two doses of its current Covid-19 vaccine offer “very limited protection, if any” against the Omicron variant.

Albert Bourla made the comments in an interview with Yahoo Finance after the company announced a new Omicron-specific version of the vaccine would be ready by March, with doses already being manufactured.

“We know that the two doses of the vaccine offer very limited protection, if any,” Dr Bourla said.
“The three doses with a booster, they offer reasonable protection against hospitalisation and deaths – against deaths, I think, very good, and less protection against infection. Now we are working on a new version of our vaccine, the 1.1, let me put it that way, that will cover Omicron as well. Of course we are waiting to have the final results, [but] the vaccine will be ready in March.”

Here’s what Albert Bourla, Pfizer’s chief executive officer, said on Monday in an interview on CNBC:

"The hope is that we will achieve something that will have way, way better protection, particularly against infections because the protection against the hospitalizations and the severe disease, it is, it is reasonable right now, with the current vaccines as long as you are having let’s say the third dose".

In the same interview where Pfizer’s CEO warned people not to expect long-lasting protection from a third shot - “reasonable right now” - he also pivoted away from more boosters:
“I don’t know if there is a need for a fourth booster.”

This thing would have rampaged around the world and be done by then.

Not bad going given the under 12s became eligible for a vaccination on 10 January 2022.

"More than 30 per cent of Canberrans aged 18 and older have now received their booster and 26.8 per cent of children aged five to 11 have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine."

I often look at the graphs on the Guardian trackers as they are pretty easy on the eyes but evidently I've never scrolled down far enough to see the vaccine utilisation graphs Covid-19 vaccine Australia rollout tracker: per cent of population vaccinated and vaccination rate by state

WA has copped a lot of flack for being behind on the vaccine stats and it's usually claiming that they must all be suffering from apathy due to no cases etc

Well the graphs actually show that WA has been using pretty much 100% of their supply since August

They line 'em up and jab 'em quick in the ACT.

    Boosters (3 doses 18+): 36.4%
    Vaccinations (2 doses 12+): 98.6%
    Vaccinations (1 dose 5 to 11): 41.7%
