Interestingly, this FB group owner is just outside of Sydney, but he has members all over the world, so it's not easy to know where the fellow cool aid drinkers come from.

Like most on the minority side of any issue ... they are very very vocal.

Think of the Melbourne protests where they appeared a massive mob but, in reality, were around 2,000 in a city of 5 mil

No doubt other health authorities will be watching with interest.

"People aged under 30 in Germany should only receive the Biontech/Pfizer (PFE.N)COVID-19 vaccine as it causes fewer heart inflammations in younger people than the Moderna (MRNA.O)shot, an advisory committee said on Wednesday."

Germany recommends only Biontech/Pfizer vaccine for under-30s

I've been following the weekly TGA reports very closely - although my son has now had his 2nd dose of Pfizer without any issues.

Unfortuanately we don't have enough data for Moderna in Australia to see if the trends match those overseas with higher rates of myocarditis/pericarditis in younger people compared to Pfizer.

As of last week we had given 21.9 million doses of Pfizer and only 0.7 million doses of Moderna.

We've seen 63 cases of suspected myocarditis in adolescents from Pfizer and 4 cases from Moderna. At first glance that seems like twice the rate from Moderna compared to Pfizer - but that simply is not sufficient to accurately compare.

Either way, I don't think Germany's approach of preferring Pfizer over Moderna for people under 30 is unreasonable.

Very good news about your son. He probably brushed it off as a non-event.

As many would realise it's the usual process going on as with any vaccination. As new data comes in, it's assessed and, if necessary, changes are made. Quite normal.

Not quite - we made him avoid all strenuous exercise for a week.

He understood why, but it was a struggle for him being such an active kid. Fortunately the weather was in our favour - it was quite wet, so some training sessions were cancelled and he wasn't able to go out as much as he normally would have anyway.

Discovered today, via my translator, that I have actually had doses of three different vaccines:

Pfizer x 2 (before leaving AUS)
    Sinovac x 1
    Sinopharm x 1

I thought I'd had Sinovac x2, but China have been mixing vaccinations for expediency purposes.

    The n=1 experiment continues...!

Did China make you take their vaccines even though you had two doses of Pfizer upon arrival in the country?

No, not as a condition of entry.

However, I came to China to attend the National Games (an in-house Olympics basically) and all competitors and staff were required to be vaccinated to enter the 'Games bubble'. They simply didn't have the bureaucratic flexibility to recognise foreign vaccines in the accreditation process, so Sino-vaccination was the only option.

Heh. The aftereffects of both were actually much milder than the second Pfizer dose, which gave me a 2-day hangover feeling.

Indications Covid-19 may result in onset diabetes.

"Several studies have recently reported new-onset diabetes associated with COVID-19. The phenomenon of new-onset diabetes following admission to the hospital has been observed previously with other viral infections and acute illnesses."

True but if it does encourage that group to be vaccinated the cost-benefit could well be in favour of providing it to them.

Today ATAGI has reaffirmed its recommendation that the timing of the booster shot remain at five months after competing the primary course.
