It's been nearly 2 months since my last update - things were starting to settle down around the world and I was too busy to do the weekly update (athletics championship season!).

However, with India setting new record highs - I thought it would be a good time to revisit the stats to get a picture of how things are going.

As of 4th May there are now 146 countries with more than 10,000 cases - up from 133 two months ago.

Australia's COVID ranking as of 4th May 2021:
    • #121 in the world for total cases (down from #114 last time)
    • #137 in the world for average daily cases over the past week (down from #128 last time)
    • #133 in the world for percentage of population infected (down from #122 last time)
    • #100 in the world for total deaths (down from #95 last time)
    • #141 (equal last) in the world for average daily deaths over the past week (down from from #127 last time)
    • #120 in the world for deaths per million population (down from #110 last time)
    • #24 in the world for deaths per case (down from #22 last time)

#1: India clearly in 1st place now - this time 2 months ago their cases and deaths had recently bottomed and were showing signs of a slight uptick. Now we have a massive 2nd wave that is completely out of control.
