Out of the top 10, I think only India looks like they are reducing numbers. I think it will be a very slow improvement. And there are potentially a lot of undiagnosed cases there, as my understanding is that they charge $150 AUD per test, and a lot of people in India would not be able to afford that. My colleague's parents have been diagnosed as Covid positive in India. He says the public hospitals there are terrible and private hospitals are not accepting Covid patients.
    Hopefully they'll be fine....

And yet a country like America and with only 1/4 their population , l just mean wth , you know.
We know lndias would be a lot higher than those numbers but even so . Just goes to show the massive differences in mentality and entitlement.

I saw India's figures drop significantly over the week,
Last I checked their healthcare system was overwhelmed and they had just given up and let it do what it does
Is it some kind of herd immunity?

Sadly they aren't gonna hava choice l'd imagine but on another note , once again the world will get another free crash test in how it all goes. Wouldn't surprise me actually given their population if they could reach heard immunity , and the people themselves might even discover foods and things too that stay it off.

As of 30th October there are 112 countries with more than 10,000 cases - with three new countries added since last week:
    • Lithuania
    • Angola
    • Sri Lanka

Australia's COVID ranking as of 30th Oct 2020:
    • #89 in the world for total cases (down from #85 last week)
    • #109 in the world for average daily cases over the past week (down from #106 last week)
    • #90 in the world for percentage of population infected (down from #89 last week)
    • #68 in the world for total deaths (down from #64 last week)
    • #103 in the world for average daily deaths over the past week (down from #100 last week)
    • #85 in the world for deaths per million population (down from #82 last week)
    • #18 in the world for deaths per case (up from #22 last week)

Of course, our deaths per case hasn't really changed in weeks (it was 3.28% on 1 October, and 3.29% now), it's everyone else's surge in new cases (without the corresponding surge in deaths yet) which is causing their deaths per case to plummet, making our pretty much static percentage rise up the rankings.

    COVID-19 Report - Total cases

    • US has passed 9 million cases
    • India passes 8 million cases
    • Colombia passes 1 million cases
    • UK, Italy and Germany moving up several places
    • Belgium jump into the top 20, up 8 places pushing Philippines out of the top 20
    • Australia is #89

    • Italy up 4 places into 5th place
    • Spain and Belgium over take Russia
    • Australia is #109

COVID-19 Report - Population infection rate

    upload_2020-11-1_11-46-21.png
    • Belgium, Czechia, Armenia and Luxembourg shoot up the rankings on a population basis
    • Belgium now 3rd highest infection rate in the world and highest in Europe and joins the 3% club
    • Czechia also joins the 3% club
    • Australia #90

    • We made it to the top 20 for something! Of course, it's more a reflection on how badly everyone else is doing rather than anything we're doing wrong right now - rapidly riding case numbers in other countries without the corresponding increase in deaths (yet) means the deaths per case percentage drops for everyone else, while ours remains pretty much static
    • Australia has pushed Ireland out of the top 20

    • Colombia's sudden rise is accounted for by a one-off addition of over 300K cases - I have confirmed that this is actually bad data - so this report will need to be regenerated once I can get the data fixed.
    • France overtakes India for daily new cases

    • Australia still rising up the rankings as our case numbers slow to a trickle while everyone else's explode. The good thing is that we have seen zero deaths in the past week and we only have one person left in ICU - so our percentage should only decrease from here.

As the world is close to 50 million cases (and has already surpassed according to some sources, but not Johns Hopkins University), the US is close to 10 million cases.

And now there's a two month stalemate with the outgoing administration possibly feeling under no obligation to do anything and the new one unable to.

Plus the lack of social distancing at protests and celebration rallies won’t help.

At least at celebration rallies, most are wearing masks.

As of 13th November there remain 112 countries with more than 10,000 cases - unchanged from last week.

Australia's COVID ranking as of 13th Nov 2020:
    • #93 in the world for total cases (down from #89 last week)
    • #112 in the world (!) for average daily cases over the past week (down from #111 last week)
    • #95 in the world for percentage of population infected (down from #94 last week)
    • #75 in the world for total deaths (down from #70 last week)

    • #86 in the world for deaths per million population (same as last week)
    • #16 in the world for deaths per case (up from #17 last week)
The #109 out of 112 ranking for average daily deaths does not take into consideration that there are 4 countries with 0 deaths on average over the past week, so we are actually ranked equal last (best) in the world.
