Thanks for the links to P2 masks @SatayKing I have just placed an order. To visit my mums nursing home as of today I now need P2 masks and goggles. Anyone got any suggestions on what and where to buy goggles?

    Try this @Islay Medshop.

    Safety Glasses

As an aside I think there is a slight difference between K95 and N95/P2 masks. Depends on location of the manufacturer or one is for industrial use and the other medical. I'm not certain of that however. When I did a search only the N95 came up at those sites I linked.

Thanks @SatayKing. The requirement is goggles and N95/P2 masks. We have been doing RAT tests every visit since last lockdown. So many precautions now but at least we can still see our family members :)

Easy as. Question will be "Who is this odd being wandering into my room dressed up and looking like a surgeon?"

I should mention the N95 I bought from one of those sites I linked has the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) approval number on the product. You can search - it isn't easy - to find if a mask meets its requirement.

Thanks. Yes I think the residents are going to think they are being invaded! Mum doesn't see so everyone says hello and who they are when close to her anyway.

Gees. Careless. Incorrect link to second supplier. It should have been this. Aussie Pharma Direct

AMD FFP2/P2 Face Masks with Cutting-edge Nano-technology (Retail)

Made a personal choice not to purchase an equivalent mask from Bunnings. Decided if I was to use a mask for essentially a medical reason I wasn't going to buy one supplied by a hardware store.

Those masks look great. The description about the way they are made is interesting too.

    Note this is a pre-print:

"We report changes in the infectivity of the airborne virus over timescales spanning from 5 s to 20 minutes and demonstrate the role of two microphysical processes in this infectivity loss: particle crystallisation and aerosol droplet pH change."

The Dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 Infectivity with Changes in Aerosol Microenvironment

What does it mean? I think it is arguing Covid lasts in the air for up to 20 minutes, social distancing matters and the better the ventilation the lower the risks of infection. The full text is a long read and even longer for me as I need to read multiple times to get even a glimpse of what they Hell they are saying!!

2 separate online orders to bunnings N95/P2 have been declined with a "sorry, we can't fill you order" today.

    Drat.

I gave a friend I hang out with a heads-up about it before Christmas. She did get her order but it was delayed. She was the one who sent me the text about the supplier running short of boxes to ship them.

Is this going to be another RATs kit saga? I certainly hope not but I'm thinking along the lines of possible shortages for the health professionals who have a greater need.

There was a huge crate of KN95s in store (at Mentone) yesterday. 40 cents each.

I was thinking of getting some of the Australian-made ones SK posted about. But out of stock. Much cheaper to buy in a box of 50 - and that’s more than I need.

Bought ours in March 2020 - better check if they have an expiry date?

AMD P2's generally have a three year expiry date.

Seems this supplier still has them available. I purchased from them. I assumed not many would look for P2's via a supplier of make-up.

Three boxes of 50's give you a 5% discount which brings the cost down to $116.85 per box.

Grab some mascara while you're at it. A bloke/gal/they* gotta look good!

Out of curiosity I checked the availability for Kn95 masks at Bunnings. As many here suspected would happen, they are out of stock for a two or three lines of KN95's.

I trust your wore your N95 masks ;).

My SIL went to a chemist (wearing a non N95 mask) to buy some RATs. She runs a small business where they work closely with the public; so we wanted to be prepared.

She caught COVID from being in the queue.

Oh yeah. I'm well stocked up on those. When I bought the AMD N95/P2 I didn't hold back splashing out the cash.

    Er, I didn't go to Bunnings. I looked on-line.
