... I agree with @mrdobalina - I think it's unlikely that the US will be deemed safe to travel to any time soon :(

The northern summer will have an effect, on the northern hemisphere. So possible that southern hemisphere may have to have restrictions longer as it passes through winter when contagion is expected to be higher. Most regions will probably have to resume restrictions when reentering different periods due to seasonal changes or restrictions being relaxed too much, so it won't be a case of it ending, it will probably slow, restart, slow, restart, etc. maybe for a while.

    From April 5:

Dr. Fauci: "Unless we get this globally under control, there is a very good chance that it will assume a seasonal nature in the sense that if - and I hope it's not only if but when - we get it down to a point where it is really at a low level, we need to be prepared. Since it will be unlikely to be completely eradicated from the planet, as we get into next season, we may see the beginning of a resurgence.

Sweden will be in trouble in no time. Their numbers are dropping because everyone else is also closing boarders. Once community transmission gets a hold they will be the same as Italy, and Spain. Why would they have a different outcome? They will be in lockdown soon enough.

Because clearly not every country is following Italy and Spain. Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan being examples.

Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan took a completely different approach to stopping the spread. Have a look into why those countries are the way they are. Sweden is not following Singapore approach that’s for sure.

Not even that, from what the news have said.

Taiwan's coronavirus response is among the best globally - CNN

Point is not every country will get to Italy and Spain. There is a theory that the reason why it's so bad there is that they started testing, and locked down, after a much wider spread.

Taiwan seems to suggest that if you isolate earlier, you dont get to that point.

For Italy, its likely that the number of infected is much higher than what is currently reported, which also explains the higher death rate, because they started testing late.

Korea had an outbreak, then seems to have managed it.

Suspect Australia is similar. i.e. relatively not as widespread, and we put in social distancing to slow it down.

There's a report I read that Italy is counting into their dead some who didn't die of the virus, but may have had it and died of other things. If that is the case, the numbers will not be right.
