Come on ... common sense people ... we're in the middle of a pandemic surge so what did you really expect ? Mind you ... 2 weeks stuck in a hotel room with the mother in law is probably punishment enough

LMFAO traveling RIGHT NOW without travel insurance. Someone that stupid shouldn't be allowed to leave the house.

I just looked up insurance there on the first insurer that came up on Google (Allianz), assuming he's in his 20's (29 I entered) and for a 3 day holiday it came to $33.47. Nahhhh too expensive.

    Zero. Sympathy.

In response to being quad vaxxed though, was their society much more open than everyone else? Perhaps they had returned to basically normal life (vax passport and masks aside). Hard to do apples and apples these days.

So there are supply issues overseas as well? At least we're not alone.

A lot of EU states will go their own way though and still allow travellers from Australia.

The additional requirements for Spain for travellers from Australia which weren't there a few weeks ago are need either a PCR 72 hours before or antigen 48 hours before, and vaccination or recovery certificate. Previously negative test could be used instead for unvaxed, no longer for Australia. Enough if coming from another EU country though.

    Of course.

I was interested as the recommendation came from the EC which would have been made after undertaking an assessment (negative) of the situation in Australia.

    England is easing restrictions.

England is about to drop virtually all anti-COVID restrictions

The restrictions being lifted on Monday in England were some of the least stringent imposed across Europe to counter the Omicron wave. They include a requirement for face masks to be worn in crowded indoor spaces, mandatory COVID-19 passes — which show vaccination status or a recent negative test — to enter large venues, and guidance to work from home where possible.

The premier said his government hoped to lift the only remaining legal requirement, for anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 to self-isolate for at least five days, before it lapses automatically in March.

I'm not sure that England's example is one that should be followed here, or given as a good example. 2,200 deaths per million, vs 122 in Australia.

More than easing they are dumping the lot. Was speaking to a friend who went back to Sheffield she says it's another world up there compared to Barcelona with hardly any masks, etc..

They are leading the way though expect most places will drop all these restrictions and mandates by the European summer, this 6th wave is already on the way down. 7 cases in my sons class in the last 10 days though...

Speaking to a guy from Ireland today. They're not even bothering to test anymore, even with RATs. Apparently 50% have covid so, if you've got symptoms, assume you've got covid. Treat according to symptoms and then get back to work (assuming you recover)

8 cases now.. seems we get a new one almost every day. But 3 have finished 7 day isolation already, so running total on the edge at 5 cases. If it goes over 5 they close the class.
Very different to last year with less than 1 case a month.

Sweden has decided that the benefits of Covid vaccines for 5-11 year old's does not outweigh the risks.

Sweden decides against recommending COVID vaccines for kids aged 5-12

"With the knowledge we have today, with a low risk for serious disease for kids, we don't see any clear benefit with vaccinating them," Health Agency official Britta Bjorkholm told a news conference.

I heard that my neice in PNG has now caught "the Spicy Cough" as she's described it. She's triple vaxxed & it's still no fun.

Sorry to learn that. Do hope she recovers soon and has no further problems.
