I spoke with a colleague in India. He said that the booster is only given 9 months from being double vaxxed and Deltacron is he new strain there.

I suspect because of population or cost that the booster is relatively delayed for their residents.

Spain just put a 2.94 euro price cap on the lateral flow antigen tests from tomorrow, cheaper than the 5-6 euro before. All the chemists are stocked up again. Germany is cheaper box of 5 for 11 euro in Lidl. Portugal 2.10 each in supermarkets.

School will give them free to all the kids if one in the class gets covid, but will only isolate the class if more than 5 positive. Last year they isolated the whole class if only 1 positive.

If anyone's got the tests with the little UV light - assuming the kids haven't played with them to death - consider donating them to your local RSPCA or animal shelter.

The vets use the UV light to find ringworm on animals, and they can be expensive to buy independently

The UV torches can be bought for $4 on eBay, and they have 9 LEDs, not just one.

Friends who work in these groups would love them - the pet rescues run on a pittance, so $4 not spent on a light is a bag of pet food

Massive case trend upwards worldwide. Deaths still not worse than other peaks though.
    From worldometers website.

Ps. New Zealand still only about 60 cases per day. Well done NZ.

Shocking that NZ is able to do so much better than India.

    lol yeah

the point I was going to make was all these little countries are being held on a pedestal. NZ, Singapore...yes even Australia. It's almost like it's easier to manage a smaller population :)

I don't think it's necessarily because of better governance.

When I look at the overall vaccination rates in the US for example, they're really high. Why does it seem like there are so many more crazies and anti-vaxxers there? Just a function of population. I think relatively speaking, we probably have just as many as them, as do most countries.

I suspect if NZ had 1.5b people it might be a tinnny bit harder to manage.
