Life's too short for idiots.... Even if they are on the top of their game I reckon.

I find it hard to respect someone's opinions even if they are "highly respected in their field" if their everyday life is a mess.
Always struggled with bad parents, no matter how great they were as friends. As soon as I saw them treat badly to their kids - I couldn't maintain any type of relationship with them.

It's possible the interview was based on this preprint (not peer reviewed) which was published in Research Square in August 2021. Funding was provided by the UK's National Institute for Health Research and the Research and Innovation.

Long COVID - the physical and mental health of children and non-hospitalised young people 3 months after SARS-CoV-2 infection; a national matched cohort study (The CLoCk) Study.

The NHS announced in June it was establishing specialist hubs.

Worldwide stats… Up, down, up, down…. But perhaps the deaths are not spiking so high. And overall, 2021 seems worse for cases and deaths than 2020 was. I am hoping we are past the peaks….

Well, that didn't work so let's try this!!

"There have been 319,856 positive cases in Norway at the time of writing, with 1,136 people now confirmed dead. Approximately 200 of these died in the last four weeks.

There are 358 people hospitalised around the country, of which 109 are in intensive care. These are the highest figures in Norway since the pandemic began.

There are now serious concerns about the capacity of hospitals in Norway, with hospitalisations close to the highest they have been throughout the pandemic.

    Current national measures
On 12 December, the government announced a series of new measures. The most notable are:
    • A maximum of 10 guests in a private home. Up to 20 is permitted once as long as social distancing is maintained
    • A return to the colour-code system for schools. All are at yellow level, with schools for older children (videregående) at red
    • Home office mandated where this is possible
    • A ban on the serving of alcohol in bars and restaurants (OMG! SK)
    • Face masks required at all indoor events
    • Lower capacity limits on events."

At the moment the fares and accommodation for most cities like London Amsterdam are very low but the risk is sitting on a plane for 28 hours plus ..

More interesting places to visit within Australia till the virus burns itself out..

A lot higher than that though, majority of people with covid are not tested or in the official numbers. Spoke to my friend in the UK today she's sick as a dog & pharmacies have run out of tests. Could reach a million a day there.
33K cases "official" here in Spain from 4k a month ago. But deaths are still low, high 81% vax rate.
UK Omicron infections ‘could reach 1m a day by end of December’

Likely to be part of the issue which is concerning to a number of the health institutions.

Even if the hospitalisation rate is less with Omicron but you double or triple the number of cases, the sheer number of those requiring hospitalisation may increase and could result in a higher number of deaths.

    Those absolute numbers again.

My thoughts exactly. If hospitalisations are 1/3rd ... but cases are 6x ... the math is a little glum

Australia climbing up the list - now ahead of France and The Netherlands.
