I don't get that - Biden, Bojo, Putin etc haven't copped flak for having set the example.

If the PM isn't an 'essential worker' (snigger), then who drives policy for all the other EW's?

Brisbane hospital locked down after doctor tests positive for COVID-19

    Quote..
A statement on the Queensland Health website said: "Due to the early stage of this, Queensland Health is in the process of contact tracing the positive case's movements. If there is a risk to the public from the hospital or any other location this person has visited, we will issue a public health alert."

Might pay to start wearing a mask again..imho..

It's only free on the weekends on the street which is a 2 klm's walk ,during the week it's about 5 bucks an hour..

Being vaccinated doesn't prevent you from getting a disease, or being a carrier. It just stops you getting sick

This is our biggest threat and we need to do something about it urgently. I know things are happening but we need to stop squabbling about different state policies etc and have a federal focus on this threat. Now. Australia has a semi-open border with PNG and it’s only a matter of time before there is transmission to northern Qld.

A view of the reasons for Australia's success against covid-19 published in the Washington Post. The author is Australian (working for the ABC) but the article has some interesting points. For instance - the exceptional success of covid-19 protection measures in Indigenous communities, reportedly the best in the world, driven partially by Indigenous control.
Opinion: 10 reasons for Australia's covid-19 success story

The indigenous community protection is very important in WA and one of the reasons why border control was deemed so critical - even if unpopular.

Very true. However the protection of indigenous communities in northern Qld will come unstuck if we don’t address the potential for spread from PNG through the TSI. We are fighting a race against time. Even if we vaccinated all of Cape York I think the risk is still for it to spread, as I understand the vaccine reduces transmission but doesn’t squash it entirely.

And now there’s movement on the PNG front. Let’s hope it’s not too late.

The rollout plan for the vaccines to be administered via GP's is going to take ages and conflict with people making appointments for other health issues!

Not sure why the Fed won't do it truckroll style eg setup in a few stadiums and vaccinate en masse by postcode. I suppose that would be too easy.

A smart person would have just converted the Covid testing stations into Covid Jab stations...........
There are plenty of the testing stations still set up !

I don't understand why they don't include pharmacists - apparently they're all for it, and they already give the the flu vaccine, so know what they're doing

First phase they are generally rolling out to vaccination clinics set up in hospitals that have an emergency department available. If someone is going to have a reaction to the vaccine, they can deterioriate very quickly.

Once things settle down and we have a good understanding of effects on our population - then it will be made available via GP clinics.

I believe the plan is eventually to provide vaccinations via pharmacies (assuming they have completed the COVID vaccination training) - but it will probably not be the Pfizer vaccine due to storage requirements and only if we are confident that people aren't at risk due to adverse reactions.
